My mother is amazing! I offered to have Easter dinner/celebration at our house this year. My mother has always done it, but it was going to be too much work with my father this year. She did insist on supplying the Easter baskets. I went to her house a few days before to find the baskets perfectly organized and filled (equally, of course). The challenge for me was that I had to hide 19 baskets in my house. I think I did pretty good. Some people looked for a good hour.

Dyed Easter eggs! After I convinced my youngest that dying them did NOT mean killing them, he decided it would be fun. I almost forgot all about dying them this year. Within 24 hours of dying them, all but one was eaten.

This is the picture done by the artist , Andy McNally. A class at one of my schools chose his illustrations to write a Storybird story. He was so honored that they used his artwork, that he created this masterpiece for the class based on their story. WOW!

Today I was in a class while they were Skyping with another class involved in the Progressive Story Project. It made my day to see that they were connecting. I love the project. It is a lot of work, but so well worth it!

We went to see my niece in a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory play at her school. Ryan was patiently waiting for her after the show to give her the candy bouquet we put together for her. My children are so blessed to have over 20 cousins who they absolutely adore!

After spending some time working on a puzzle with his PopPop, Matthew decided he really wanted to do puzzles. We borrowed this one from my parents. He really is good at them. I also found myself working on it. There is something calming about doing a puzzle.

Visited my parents today. Went to the basement for something and had to pass my Dad's bar. I have always loved this bar. He always had cool lights, gadgets, and toys. The best part was that when people came to visit they signed the wall. It is like a walk down memory lane to read the messages on the wall.

This article was published in our local paper today. It was about a collaborative story project we are doing with third grade and the Progressive Story Project that started this week. I was pretty excited about it. The best part was that the reporter focused on the collaboration and writing, not the technology.

I went to my son's school today for his "Meet the Author" time. Each child writes and illustrates a book. Family and friends are invited to come to hear the children read their stories. My son wrote about a trip to the beach that we took when he was 4. He remembered every detail, including when he was buried in the sand and some of the silly nieces and nephews made him "look like a girl."

I have been setting my alarm for 5:15 am. I know...crazy, but I am trying to get up and exercise every morning. A good friend used to always say "Don't let the sheets win!" I tell myself that in the morning when that alarm beeps obnoxiously. Some days are harder than others but I have to remember how good I feel all day when I get up and do it!

As I was working on my Progressive Story Project and my Pete & C presentation (about students making global connections), I thought of his artwork and decided it would be perfect to use. I really do not like doing laundry. It is one of those tasks you just have to continually do and it is never completely done. Plus I'm no good at it. I do not sort by color (love those Color Catchers!). I do not read tags. If it can't be washed and dried it doesn't work for me. Why can't I just have disposable clothes?

This was the view out my kitchen window tonight. When we moved into this neighborhood I was excited to be surrounded by neighbors. My husband chose this lot because no one would build behind us. I thank him all the time for convincing me that this was the right lot. I'm so glad I can enjoy those sunsets instead of the back of another house.

My son lost his first tooth today! It has been loose for weeks. He was watching TV and I asked if I could feel how loose it was. I hardly pulled and it was out. He didn't even notice it. We sat there for a while before he reached for it to wiggle it around and couldn't find it...he was so excited! Guess the Tooth Fairy will be visiting our house tonight!
